Aiba's attempt to surf Ohno back to shore fails miserably. Ohno rubs his burning eyes and stumbles through the surf, panicking when he finally finds Aiba lying in the sand, clutching his leg in pain.

“What is it?” he asks, kneeling down and grabbing Aiba’s shoulder.

“Jellyfish sting,” Aiba explains through clenched teeth.

“…does it hurt?”

Aiba howls and Ohno jumps, surprised.

“Do you need to wash it off?” Ohno asks. “Can I help you back into the water?”

“Um,” Aiba answers, panting as he looks down at the sting. “With jellyfish, uh…”

“Oh,” Ohno interrupts him, eyes wide. “Yeah, right, I’ve heard about that.”

Aiba looks up at Ohno, face red and eyes watery.

“It’s okay,” he whispers. “You don’t have to.”

Ohno’s heart swells. With a solemn expression he stands and begins to untie his swim trunks. Aiba lies back in the sand, shading his eyes with his arms.

“What the hell are you two doing?”

Aiba peeks out to see Jun and Sho hovering over his sting while Nino pulls Ohno’s hands behind his back.

“You haven’t even taken the tentacles off,” Jun tsks.

Aiba winces as Sho pours liquid over his leg.

“What is that?” Ohno asks, attempting to look over Sho’s shoulder while Nino reties his shorts.

“Vinegar,” Sho answers.

“Urine doesn’t have nearly enough ammonia to neutralize a jellyfish sting,” Jun says, professionally enough to earn a surprised glance from Sho. “Depending on what you’ve had to drink today, it could even make the sting worse.”

“Aren’t you supposed to be the animal expert?” Sho asks, ruffling Aiba’s hair.

“We all seem to be ignoring the fact that Oh-chan nearly exposed himself in front of the whole staff!” Nino snaps.

“Ah, well, there is that,” Jun replies, disinterested.

“Does your leg feel better?” Ohno asks, escaping Nino’s grip to lean over Aiba.

Aiba reaches up and squeezes Ohno’s arm, beaming.

“Yes, thank you.”

“I brought the vinegar!” Sho objects.

Jun and Nino exchange a look before dragging Sho to his feet.

“Come on, let’s leave the adventurers alone to recover,” Jun says, patting Sho on the back.

For weeks, Aiba tells anyone who will listen about how Ohno almost peed on him to save his life. Each time, the story sounds a little less heroic, Ohno thinks.
