Ah, hmm. Nino/Jun or Aiba/Jun And I kind of suck at prompts so um hosting a party? No need to stick to the prompt if you don't want!

You know, I also really want to see Nino / Aiba. I have trouble imagining it, personally, but whenever I brush up against it, I'm completely entranced. Current events, if you can? Here is where I am supposed to give you some kind of plot suggestion but that's the thing, I can't think of anything, so, um, idk, rejected talent show ideas (as hard as it is to believe that there were any rejected ideas)? Anything you think of is fine XD

Jun says he likes Britney because “she’s too much of a train wreck not to love,” but Nino thinks that sounds more like pity and maybe a little morbid fascination.

Nino likes Britney because when she came running up to his car after filming and gestured for him to roll down his window, she used lots of simple English words like “good bar” and “I’ll pay.” He liked that she didn’t order girly drinks, and that she flicked off the old man craning his neck around a pillar to look at their corner table (hell, he even found her calling Arashi “the phone commercial guys” somewhat endearing).

There was just something likeable about Britney, to the point that Nino found the foreign words on his tongue before he could even stop them.

“Do you like magic?” he asked, in English.

Britney set down her glass and turned to Nino, wide-eyed.

“I love magic,” she said, entirely serious.

Nino pulled his cards from his pocket and led her through a trick. He couldn’t do much vamping with his limited English, but he found it wasn’t necessary. When he showed Britney the original card, her surprised squeal sent several more middle-aged men turning their way. Nino became acutely aware that the pair of them must have looked suspiciously like Ninomiya Kazunari and Britney Spears.

“We should go,” he suggested, smiling awkwardly as he pocketed his deck.

“Aw, Neenoh,” she whined. “Come on. We’re having fun!”

“Yes. People see us,” he replied, sentence forming slowly over his slight buzz.

Britney’s peered over her shoulder (casually, as though she might not have a room of people staring at her), and nodded with a thoughtful frown.

“We could go to my hotel,” she proposed.

Nino choked on his drink.

“Not like that, silly,” Britney snorted, rolling her eyes. “I wanna see your magic tricks. Besides, if I go back alone they’re all going to yell at me.”

“They don’t yell if I come?”

“Not until tomorrow, at least.”

“You are crazy,” Nino mumbled in Japanese, amused.

“You just called me crazy, didn’t you?” Britney accused, pointing a finger.

“You don’t speak-” Nino started, surprised.

“I don’t have to,” Britney interrupted, taking a long swig of her drink. “I can understand crazy in any language.”

Nino stared at Britney for a moment before sighing the long-suffering sigh of someone unaccustomed to being a gentleman. Britney paid their tab, as promised, and was in high spirits on her way back to the car, bouncing and humming and ignoring the other patrons nearly hanging out the door to watch her leave.

“You know,” Britney drawled, stretching her arms back to touch the headboard. “I’ve never had sex with an Asian guy.”

“Me neither,” Nino answered.

Well, not really, he thought.

Britney giggled and Nino abandoned his Gamecube controller to flop back on the bed with her, staring up at the tacky gold vines painted across the ceiling. He felt the mattress shift under him. Britney’s manicured nails trailed lightly down his arm. If he shivered, it was a manly shiver. Britney leaned in and brushed their lips together.

Nino was the first to smirk, but Britney quickly cracked as well, rolling off of Nino and across the bed in peals of laughter.

“I’m sorry,” they both said.

Britney tried to look Nino in the eye but niether could stop giggling.

“Are you gay?” she asked, still beaming as she tilted her head.

Nino frowned, shaking his head.

“No,” he answered.

Not really, he thought.

“Good,” Britney sighed. “Cause sometimes the gay ones try to, like, steal a lock of my hair.”

“Why you came after my car?” Nino asked, suddenly curious.

“Honestly, you were the smallest.”

“Sorry?”

“Like, I figured, if I had to, you know, fight you off? I could.”

“I have to fight you off!” Nino protested, laughing at Britney laughing at herself.

“I’m terrible, I know it,” Britney apologized, trying to catch her breath.

“You’re okay,” Nino assured her.

Britney smiled at him again, but it was a different, sad smile. It made Nino reach for his cards again, amused by the immediate clapping and excitement.

“Wait, wait, let me get Brett,” she said suddenly, scrambling out of bed and grabbing her cell phone.

It seemed that Britney’s assistants really were going to wait until morning to chew her out for running off on them, so Nino spent the rest of the night entertaining “the staff,” first with magic tricks, then, after a cranky translator was pulled out of sleep, with stories about Clint Eastwood (“I think I rented it,” Britney told him. “But I always fall asleep when I watch movies at home.”).

Nino woke up late the next morning to find that Britney had left him all the parts of her gift baskets that she didn’t want. He was a little annoyed that the whole group had just left him asleep on the couch, but he immediately perked up when he found two mails from Jun on his cell phone. He hit redial as he sifted through the second-hand swag.

“Hello?”

“Britney Spears thinks you look gay.”

“What?”

“She said Sho is the hot one and you’re the gay one.”

“She, you, how,” Jun stammered. “WHAT?”

Nino hung up and smiled to himself, holding up a sheet of hotel notepaper with a full list of contact details, including e-mail, a hastily scribbled stick-figure with a top hat and a rabbit decorating the left corner.

Nino geniunely likes Britney Spears, but he loves upsetting Jun.

JUST SO YOU KNOW, I'M ON THE VERGE OF CRYING. TEARS OF JOY, MIND YOU. I THINK THEY ARE MY NEW OTP. ASDFGHJJKL HAVE I PROPOSED TO YOU YET?

AKDFAJLDFAJFS THEY REALLY WOULD PLAY VIDEO GAMES TOGETHER AND SHE WOULD TEACH HIM HOW TO TALK WITH A TWANG.

ALSO, HAPPILY I ACCEPT.

CRYING. THEY TOTALLY WOULD. AND NINO WOULD TEACH HER JAPANESE SNARK 101. THEN THEY WOULD GET DRUNK AND PRANKCALL JUN ALL NIGHT LONG.

“I don’t have to,” Britney interrupted, taking a long swig of her drink. “I can understand crazy in any language.”

NINO WOULD BRING JUN ONE OF BRITNEY'S EXTENSIONS AND GAUGE HIS REACTION.

THEN THE TABLOID PHOTOS WILL COME OUT AND NO ONE WILL EVEN KNOW WHAT TO MAKE OF THEM

Jun hasn’t discussed the show with him, yet, beyond a few vague statements of “good work,” and “take care of your health while you’re at it.” The Monday after the fourth episode airs, Nino walks into work, bracing himself for the usual onslaught of Jun speculating on the plot and yelling at him for things Koichi has done. It doesn’t come.

They’re on break (VS is back to back today), when Aiba suddenly turns to Nino on the couch and asks:

“Are you in love with your sister?”

“What the fuck?” Nino starts, sitting up.

“Is Koichi in love with his sister,” Sho corrects, shoving Aiba.

“Oh,” Nino says, deflating. “Keep watching. It gets clearer.”

Aiba laughs, fingers unclenching from the arm of the couch.

“Sorry,” he says.

Nino rolls his eyes, a bit frustrated with himself when they come to rest on the back of Jun’s head. Jun is buried in HunterxHunter, trying desperately to catch up with Ohno.

“This sure is an interesting chapter,” Ohno says with an uncharacteristically wicked smile, holding his book up a little higher so that the volume number is directly in front of Jun’s face.

“Are you watching?” Nino asks.

“I’m getting the DVD,” Ohno answers, confused. “I always get the DVDs…”

Nino nods, absolutely not watching Jun self-consciously fluff the back of his hair.

After the sixth episode, Nino is officially infuriated. He’s had at least five conversations with Aiba explaining his character’s family tree, and even Sho has started reading the book.

Nino doesn’t so much invite Jun over as he tells him to be there at eight. Jun shows up with a bottle of Nino’s least favorite wine and a thin smile.

“Why aren’t you watching my show?” Nino demands, as soon as Jun removes his shoes.

In Nino’s script, the question had come much later.

“Maybe I don’t feel like spending my Friday nights with you,” Jun responds, curtly.

In Nino’s script, Jun had confessed to secretly watching the show, but pretending that he wasn’t, because...

“Why not?” Nino asks, more confused than anything else.

Jun sighs and steps back into his shoes. Nino grabs his arm, glaring.

“If we have a problem, you have to tell me.”

“It’s exhausting,” Jun says, as though this is an explanation.

Nino frowns in a way that indicates it is not.

“Being around you all day, and then seeing you on the weekends, and then watching you on TV, and never,” Jun sighs. “It’s a lot.”

“You watch everything,” Nino says, loosening his grip on Jun’s sleeve. “You watch Shimura Doubutsuen.”

Jun smiles weakly.

“Sorry.”

“Explain,” Nino asks, again, and even he knows it’s a whine.

Jun opens his mouth, closes it, frowns down at his bottle of wine, and then curses under his breath before leaning in.
